2001
The season began with a spring frost which considerably damaged the buds which had just begun to sprout and, as a result, annual production was significantly reduced. Spring and summer rainfall, at times abundant, generated a good level of moisture in the soil; the vines grew rapidly and developed lush foliage, while the setting of the berry was highly favorable. The month of August was rather sunny in almost all areas of Tuscany. The climatic conditions in September and October proved excellent and were ideal for the ripening of the grapes, with sunny days and cool nights.

Tasting Notes:
Luce 2001 has an intense and vibrant purple color. The bouquet is distinguished by its elegance and refinement. Fragrances of ripe fruit, cherries, and forest berries mingle with notes of chocolate, leading into a finish of fresh aromas. The entry on the palate is delightfully lavish with well integrated tannins that perfectly balance the alcohol. The flavor is persistent, offering a crescendo finish with a hint of minerals.

Varietal Composition: 50% Sangiovese, 50% Merlot

Awards:
