1998
In 1998, the intense sun of the summer months, which followed a regular spring season, encouraged early maturation of the berries, leading to Sangiovese and Merlot grapes of superior soft tannins and lower levels of acidity. The first half of October brought some heavy rains, fortunately followed by plenty of sunshine and a constant breeze that dried off any excess moisture. The grapes were brought to the winery in excellent condition with fully developed flavors and an appropriate balance of sugar concentration and acidity.
